Consumer Health, Inc / Smile Brands, inc.
   Bright Now! Dental
January 2019  - June 2019
Basically, the work experience was the same as before.  However, I decided to leave the company in favor of coming to Montana to apply my considerable experience & training on a limited basis while caring for my elderly sister.
  Newport Dental, Pasadena
June 2017 - 12-31-18

At the conclusion of 2018 I was transferred to sister company, Bright Now ! Dental which has offices closer to my home.  In most ways Consumer Health, Inc and Bright Now ! Dental work very much like West Coast Dental, Inc. and I found the transitions seamless.  They also continue the practice of same day treatment to help patients with limited time for health care. And, of course, I continue to offer Optimal Treatment Options.
West Coast Dental Services, Inc.
2014 - April 2018

I currently work for West Coast Dental Services, Inc., a major Southern California Dental provider.  The company has been a good experience and has continued my dental business education.  Now I understand the importance of offering patients Optimal Care which may include additional adjunct procedures not covered by their insurance carriers.  And, working with qualified expanded function assistants makes possible the concurrent use of multiple operatories, a more efficient delivery paradigm.

Beber Dental Corporation
Through 2013

I incorporated the business for the usual reasons that people do.  I was still working for myself but under the corporate umbrella.  I worked this way for the better part of my clinical career; however, late in 2013, after 38 years in dentistry, I was tired of running the business so I sold it to a younger dentist.  I am now free to find work as an associate dentist so that I can concentrate upon providing dental care to patients without having the distractions of running the business.

David J. Beber, DDS

After the purchase of Dr. Nick Chester's practice I became a dental entrepreneur.  I learned a lot from Dr. Chester.  His patients loved him and I wanted that, too.  I was immersed in the business for dentistry.

Nickolas T. Chester, DDS

Associate Dentist

I found Dr. Chester through a dental school friend who had just hired a new dental assistant that had left employment with Dr. Chester's junior associate.  She told him that Dr. Chester was about to fire the junior associate and my school friend told me that I should apply for the job as the new junior associate.  It worked out well for everyone.  Dr. Chester liked me and my work and so, 5 months later I bought his practice.

David Fishman, DDS

Part Time Associate Dentist

I went to work, part-time, for Dr. Fishman at his nicely appointed dental office on the 7th floor of an office building on Wilshire Blvd. in Los Angeles.  His Sister, Layla, assisted me.  Though it was interesting work, it was mostly capitation patients that he had pre-diagnosed.  I enjoyed my time there and learned more about the business of providing dental care.

Jerome Stroffs, DDS

Part Time Associate Dentist

I was pleased to get this part-time job because it offered me the chance to earn based upon my production; however, I was given all medi-cal patients and was held to a small percentage of my gross production.  There, I learned not to pre-judge these patients because some of them wanted dental work that was not a covered benefit and were willing to pay for it themselves.  My paychecks increased a little bit.

Daniel Farkas, DDS

Part Time Associate Dentist

This was a dream job.  It was not close to home, but it provided me with the opportunity to experience a faster pace of practice, better compensation and modern dental technology.

University of Southern California, D.D.S. Degree

I am so pleased to have had the opportunity to learn from the premier dental school of the country.  Everything at the school was state of the art for that time and the professors were the best in their respective fields.  This was an exciting time for me and I felt that I could get a job anywhere.

San Jose State College, B.S. Degree

Before being separated from active duty with the U.S. Navy I applied to San Jose State College.  I wanted to be able to get back into my college career as soon as possible because I had a goal: to become a dentist.  I was able to complete the requirements for my B.S. Degree there and to apply to dental schools.

United States Navy

After three years as an undergraduate at U.C.L.A I was far from knowing what I wanted as a major.  I decided to take some time off to sort things out and, so, I joined the Navy.  I was able to make an impression upon the Commander running the dental office on the ship to which I had been assigned and was soon being trained in the ship's dental office as a dental assistant.  It was there that I became interested in doing dentistry.  I was able to move up the military ladder to Petty officer 2nd class and was offered an officer's commission just before my enlistment ran out.

U.C.L.A.

U.C.L.A was my first choice in higher education.  It was well known as a great school and I thought that I would figure out a major after a while.  The major illuded me for three years until I had to take time off to figure it out.  That's when I joined the U.S. Navy.

Beverly Hills High School

This was a perfect high school for me.  I liked learning and there were many of the activities that I liked as well.  I was on the water polo and competetive swimming teams for four years.  I got good grades and easily went on to college.
